Time is passing by rapidly. Things are changing and journalism, like other sectors, is also facing many challenges. In such an environment, if there is any ray of hope for the journalist community, it is the **Journalist Colony Phase II** project, which has been continuously mentioned for the past several months.
Yesterday, when Kashif Kamboh, Inam Ahmed Langah, Mohsin Bilal and Abdul Rehman were sitting at the dining table in the canteen of the Press Club, there was once again a discussion regarding the development of Phase 2. In fact, in every gathering of journalists, the same question is heard that how far has the progress of Phase 2 reached? Parliamentary Secretary for Information Shazia Rizwan mentioned this project in the budget session of the Punjab Assembly, while Provincial Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has also made announcements in this regard.
All this progress is certainly encouraging, but now almost six months have passed. The journalist community wants to know what practical steps have been taken during this period? At what stage is the project? What is the future plan? And when will journalists see clear progress?
We also respectfully request the elected body of the Lahore Press Club to provide the journalist community with a detailed update regarding Phase Two. If there have been meetings with the government, any approvals have been received, progress has been made regarding land or other important steps have been taken, then journalists should also be informed about them.
The aim of the journalist community is not criticism but information and transparency. Because this project is linked to the future of thousands of journalists and their families. It is hoped that the leadership of the Lahore Press Club will soon give a comprehensive briefing on this important issue so that the atmosphere of uncertainty ends and journalists can know how much progress has been made towards making Journalist Colony Phase Two a reality.
